I found the programme available on Demand 5 last night. I can't believe it was 30 years ago but it brought back a lot of memories of working there 38 hours the weekend immediately after and then for several weeks rebuilding the comms systems working 12 hour day shifts before carrying on for several more weeks on nights. A fellow chargehand on that job died within a couple of years of the fire, one of the electrical foremen died a few years ago, my manager and supervisor developed cancers a decade or so ago and I am living with incurable cancer which began in 2010. I cannot help but wonder if our health was adversely affected by being there grafting within two days of the fire. That said I still think myself lucky having passed through the bull ring and down to the Vic line just 10 or 15 minutes before the flashover and arrived at a collegue's house on the way home just in time to watch the event unfold in a TV newsflash.

I watched the channel 5 programme on the fire and the survivors 30 years on, on Friday night. It should also now be available on Demand 5.
