CartoMetro map update and new map -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Franklin has now uploaded the latest version of his CartoMetro Detailed London Transport map - v3.4 [ Click here ]carto.metro.free.fr/metro-tram-london/I can't remember all the changes, but the map includes the updated new tram layout at Wimbledon, the updated track layout at Putney, various NR / Crossrail-related work, and some added NR track naming. He has also created a new map - London Rail Lines - v1.0: carto.metro.free.fr/lines-london/[ Click here ]This is an overlay on the standard CartoMetro map (v3.4) and has all of the main line tracks named - generally according to those shown in the NR sectional appendices. Map v3.4 is still shown for easy reference, but is greyed out. The tube lines are shown as thinner lines, generally in their line colour. Their sections are generally named (where relevant). As always, the best way to use the maps off-line is to download the PDF version. Whether looking online or offline, remember to zoom right in to be able to see all of the detail, especially with some of the local NR track names on the detailed map.

That map incorrectly shows the local lines as a joint Picc and District service between Acton Town and Hammersmith when it's a District only service.

Thanks
I've looked at the current WTT and, from what I can see, no Picc trains are booked to run on the local line at all.
Does that mean that mean that Picc drivers are no longer road trained on or required to have knowledge of that section of the line and would (technically) need a pilotman if required to run on the local? Personally, I wouldn't see the need for minimum six month driving refreshers over the local, although the occasional trip would be nice.
Are Picc trains still diverted over the local due to service requirements (engineering work, job up the wall, etc.)?
I assume that in the past, the dead early / dead late (and possibly even the West Ken reversers in days of yore) local line trips were for staff to keep their hand in, whilst having the added bonus of an extra train or two for passengers at Turnham Green.
I'll pass your comment on to Franklin. It's possible that if Picc trains may still run over the local lines for whatever reason, that Franklin may keep the map as it is as the map generally shows where trains can run rather than specifically where they would normally run. An example of this is where the LO is shown as running between Camden Road junction and Camden Junction DC lines (e.g. an LO train service could run from Stratford to Watford Junction or wherever. Whilst not a normal passenger service, this route is sometimes used for passenger services during engineering works. That part of the route is shown with the emphasis on NR (long black, short orange track marking) and so, if the Picc can still run over the local as necessary, the track marking could be shown with emphasis on the District.

Had it confirmed that Picc trains can run over the local if required, so I think that changing the emphasis to mostly District for the local might make it better, if Franklin agrees.
