Ever since I can remember I had a fascination with trains, push-a-long, clockwork and electric, I once had a small static steam boiler with a wheel on it that used Meths on cotton wool to get it hot.

I sold my N gauge layout in 1982 and swore I would not have another in retirement but I guess I am going to now. In the last few weeks since mid December I have spent a small fortune on OO gauge track and rolling stock and intend to create an end to end NR/LUL layout at some future time. I have had three four car tube trains for the last 10 years, a Bachmann tamper and the Hornby L90 for at least five years and suddenly got the urge to add some wagons with a view to creating a static diorama as I had little or no wish to carve up any of my EFE cars to motorise them. However, the bug bit me when I began perusing EBay OO offerings and I guess I'll start with an NR layout as I have bought plenty of RTR locos, coaches and wagons. That said I currently have no room for a layout and as I live in a rented cottage whatever I build will have to be created in portable bolt together sections so it's a long term project. In the meantime I will have to declutter by disposing of items from my many other hobbies (computers, telephones, telephone systems, model buses, model GPO/PO/BT vehicles, books, DVDs, CDs, Tools collections) as the cottage has looked more like a warehouse than a home for several years and I really no longer want to be the hoarder that I know I have always been!
