How many rounders would an average W&C duty contain? Are the duties normally W&C on both halves or one half on the Central?

What I do know is that they are Leytonstone duties. From what I gather, there are duties and spares booked to travel to Waterloo.
I'll see if I can get a copy of the Leytonstone duty book for a definitive answer.

There are/were many T/Ops who hated the Drain and those who would work it regularly day in day out, a sort of unofficial roster.

I worked at Leytonstone 17 years ago and this is what we did on the W&C
Each turn had about 16 rounders. On weekdays drivers stepped back all day in Waterloo depot and Bank during the peaks. Nobody ever did the full turn because the spare took everyone off for a couple of trips and then cut away himself. On Saturday there was a 2 train service with no stepping back, the spare took each driver off for a couple of trips then it was a solitary day for each driver going up and down on the same train not seeing another driver because both trains were always on the opposite end of the line.
