This was in the Daily Mail. Bakerloo extension The all night tube has already been in another thread but if the extension was to go ahead the upgrade would not be until 2040.

That's so far into the future that it is pointless suggesting an extension route today! The whole of SE London will be a different place by then. The politicians should be planning an entirely new or massively upgraded (triple or quad tunnel) integrated network for the future instead of continually tinkering with bits and pieces.

By the time they build it, if ever I will be planted by then it seems they draw up the plans every so many years.

By the time they build it, if ever I will be planted by then it seems they draw up the plans every so many years. Death is never far from my mind, indeed the NHS currently have me firmly in their clutches once again, however, if I have my way I have more than my entire life in years to date still to live as I approach 'middle' age, my aim being to keep collecting my LUL pension until I am 125. 40 years ago I had little interest in anything beyond my then career as a telephone engineer, world and current affairs didn't bother me as long as they did not impact upon my life at that time. That said the three day week, imposed £1 + 4% maximum pay rise, the fuel crises, middle east terrorism and IRA bombings in London were in my mind. As I have aged I have become more and more interested in the politics and diplomacy ('legalised' lying and cheating in laymans terms) of world affairs for no other reason than the incompetence of our politicians. In the last couple of decades in particular I have become increasingly frustrated at the lack of governance demonstrated in the running of the country in respect of the loss of utility and amenity of so many former public services. Amongst these the total lack of infrastructure and transport planning through a complete lack of 'joined up' thinking by all parties has never been far from my focus. We need a government that will think about the future of the country and the needs of its population rather than the place this badly run down island of former Great Britain holds in the world. South London has been badly served by tube services ever since the first lines were built, in bygone days lack of technology was the excuse for being unable to extend the Bakerloo. That no longer applies but some thought should be given as to how the area will be developed in the next 50 years or longer before simply adding a few more stops to a line that is really no longer fit for purpose and which is certainly far from future proof. The biggest enemies of transport planning in this country remain unchanged, specifically, short termism, lack of commitment, delay and incompetence. When I snuff it, if there is a way to haunt the corridors of power and frighten the incompetents into financing efficient integrated transport infrastructure commensurate with an all party agreed national development plan I'll be more than happy to frighten them. If not, perhaps I'll be able to vent my heavenly frustrations 'down the pipe' where I was always very much at home!

Looks like the property developers are getting ready to make a killing as they did when the Jubilee line extension was first thought of link

It will push property prices up even more, some of the prices are way above for the type of property. Someone will make a lot of money even before the extension is built.

I wish they would revert to the route planned via Camberwell Green and Peckham.
