I have an app on my ipad which tells you the amount of trains in service on each line and where they are in real time. At this moment, there are 16 trains running on the Hammersmith & city and Circle line. But it doesnt tell you how many are in the depot getting ready for rush hour service and the ones in the shop having an overhaul.

Three trains stable at Stonebridge Park after the morning peak, with only two re-entering service for the evening peak (giving 31 trains in service for the evening peak). There are also three further trains starting from Stonebridge Park in the late evening all of which subsequently stable at Elephant. I don't know the actual fleet size.

Thanks for that looking at Tubeprune's site he mentions 36 trains.
