I once made a model in 'N' gauge of West Ruislip to Northolt. Then I married my first wife and she sold the lot! My heart hasnt been in it since.

My first wife complained about coming home late I told her that's what shift does needless to say a change over was arranged.

I had several albums which the 2nd wife destroyed when we split up. Both ex-wives complained about the shift work yet were happy with the wage packet! I did find out where the track and some trains ended up and tried to buy them back. Unfortunately he wanted more than new prices so I gave up. I did join the Oak Royal train model club. They had a small district line setup. The stock was supposed to have been made by the same chap who made the models at the training centre. Unfortunately, National rail knocked the building down 2 years later.

It was an old railway shed in Acton near the A40. They called it Oak Royal as a take on Royal Oak depot as the founders were wheeltappers there.

Wonderful creatures are ex-wives. I lost ALL my collection of railway mugs and Terence Cuneo prints, a set of Gresley A4 framed prints but I kept my Central Line signals which are safely stored in Epping Cabin.

What's happen to the restoration of Epping Cabin, is the frame taken from Hainault still in bits ?

Does anyone recall the LT model railway club? I can't say that I do except that in the late 1980s my old South Kensington Comms supervisor discovered that it used to be located at Sloane Square station when he was doing a survey for one of our projects. Apparently all the members had retired or otherwise no longer frequented the club and it had been left disused for some time.
For some of my time in the training division I worked at Earls Court Signal school running trade tests for new applicants and while there I discovered parts of an old training school O gauge layout which had been long forgotten. The handmade 12 lever frame was a working model and I gleaned the basics of point and signal locking from it long before I had any formal training in signalling.

I remember Sloane Square the layout was in the basement there was an AET from Morden Colin who used to go there and a regulator Malcolm. There was lots of historical material as well. In the old platform at Holborn the Central line had a room.
