Cravens Unit on the move to Northfields 16.01.14 Picture and text credit to Brian Hardy. I was at the LTM today and they said they would let me know when they were on the way. Indeed they did, but only when at Ealing Common and couldn’t get to AT station to see it arriving (grrr….). However, I waited to get it on its return. And well worth the effort.

The Track Recording Train was also seen by me in the afternoon heading westbound on the District Line at Acton Town on Thursday 16 January.
4 1960 Driving Motor Cars on the move on the same day.

Looks like a new layout at Acton Town, 44W used to be a chairlock layout under the road bridge when I was maintaining them, I see a new point machine and the turnout further west now.

It's not so nice doing point maintenance in the open at this time of year, at least when 44W was under cover there was some defence against weather although it did used to get quite draughty there in the wee small hours. That said 48W crossover at the top of the hill was okay when the old point heater was on, it was so good all the oil and grease around the sleepers would be bubbling on a mild night!
