Operation of the West End sandite train has finished for the season, the final booked run having taken place this evening. Although with ATO suspended in ALL open sections due to poor railhead conditions at the time (and possibly still ongoing), perhaps it's a bit premature!
The East End train looks like it will continue until the 4th of January, and the Met should be finishing next week.

That's a bit of a cock-eyed decision but then again the powers that be will come up with a cock-eyed reason. I always found it quite amusing that millions of £s have been invested on ATO and they STILL can't run a railway...... bodes well for NOPO!

Worth mentioning a few things on this thread: The Met Rail Adhesion train has also been extended until at least next Saturday (should have ended with the introduction of the new WTT on the 8th). Actual leaf fall has been extremely late this year mainly due to the mostly mild weather we've had this autumn. Oak trees tend to be the last to shed their leaves and up to last week they were still clinging on to about 75% of their leaves. The Central's ATO system is 1990s technology & not as flexible as more modern technology (TBTC for example) and there is only a limited amount that can be done to change things like braking rates, thereby making it more likely to overrun, plus its reliance on wheel revolutions to work out where it is in relation to signals/stations means wheel slip also causes problems. That said, even though modern signalling and trains are more advanced, if ATO is introduced onto the SSL they intend to run TWO sandite trains on the Met. The S stock and all it's modern technology have still not prevented leaf fall related overruns. The Central East of Loughton was extremely bad today - I struggled to maintain any speed on any upward incline due to the wheels on the RAT spinning on slippery rails.

** Apologies for duplication of the Met RAT ending date - didn't see that in first read!
