London Overground; Overhead wire problems caused by a derailed freight train are causing disruption at Camden Road. Trains are unable to pass the affected area until a full assessment has been carried out and full repairs are made. That's a bit of an understatement:

London Reconnections has some details about this: [ Click here ]
This is the train's path from Birmingham to Felixtowe (headcode 423C) - I don't know how long the link will be valid for : [ Click here ]
Here is the signal diagram covering the area: [ Click here ]

I bet that they're wishing that the Eastern Curve at Dalston Junction was still in place so that they could at least have an emergency connection between the two LO lines for stock transfers if necessary. There is a physical connection between the ELL at Highbury & Islington (platform 2) and the WB NLL, but that isn't electrified and thus LO trains can't run over it: [ Click here ]This does seem rather strange because the present situation does leave the NLL isolated. LO has maintenance depots for the electric stock at New Cross Gate (ELL) and Willesden (NLL) where the stock, which is the same, can be maintained. Therefore, if there was a connection in the Highbury / Dalston area between the ELL and the NLL, then at least the NLL line stock could be looked after / swapped over at New Cross Gate, or even run around to Willesden via Pouparts Junction if required. Likewise, if the LO had a major problem that blocked the mid section of the ELL line and access past, say south of the river wasn't available.

Last night, they managed to get a unit from New X Gate Depot to the NLL via the connection at Highbury & Islington, they used a Class 57 diesel locomotive to shunt the 378 at H&I so it could be transferred from the ELL to the NLL.

They should just send a ELL into platform 2 at maximum speed and see if it manages to coast far enough to reach the electrified section on the NLL
