Makes you wonder how the railways got on when everything was steam. There again, perhaps everything that could catch light (such as patches of dry grass etc.) caught light when there were only small amounts of it and thus they never got to the size where catching alight would shut the job down. Or perhaps they just let it all burn itself out and kept at normal speed.
