Hi All, Gareth here part of the groups which hopes to reopen part of the Meon Valley Railway in Hampshire, he is the latest news.
We got a revival of the Meon Valley Railway, going on got the council on our side, and here's the current info we put on wikipedia: A group called the Meon Valley Railway Preservation Society, which formed in January 2013, are planning on reopening the line as a standard gauge railway from Knowle to West Meon, their current plan is to reopen it in sections, the first phase being Knowle to Soberton Heath, then the second phase would see them lay track to Droxford by 2025 and then West Meon shortly after that, with no plans at present to extend to Alton due to the missing viaduct and structures being built on the track bed. It will share the double track formation with the current footpath/brideway, as it will be a single line as it was back in the days pre-1968.
Please support us!! We do have a facebook group and facebook page as well as a Website!

Hi Gareth, Great News, only recently 'discovered' the line after organising a walk for office colleagues from Wickham to Soberton. It must have been successful as they want to do Soberton to West Meon on 24th of this month. I would like to support your efforts to re-open the line, I believe it will be of terrific tourist interest. I am a Chartered Surveyor by the day job, who is working for South West Trains, and I'm sure as the MVR is in their 'patch', there would be some synergy for publicity etc.... I can be contacted on 07717 306374 or email of pfsutton@yahoo.co.uk Regards, Paul
