Apparently the millionth contactless payment journey was made on Wednesday (10th). How many buses are fitted with this facility?. Admittedly I don't travel on buses that much, but I haven't seen any.

I'm not sure, but I haven't seen any notices on the few buses I've been on.
How does it work. Does it purely deduct the fare from the person's bank account? If so, I assume that the fare would be the same as an Oyster card, rather than the ridiculously high cash fare. Also, if the fare is the same as an Oyster, how can the fare be capped, like on an Oyster, or do the majority still have to use their Oyster cards?

I saw a large notice at a bus stop today advertising contactless payments, but it stated that they doesn't count towards the Oyster daily cap. So, a bit pointless having it then!
No doubt TfL will try and force it on everybody by eventually refusing to take cash.

All buses operating on contract to TfL (London's red buses) have this facility.
It was trialled on route 370 (Romford - Lakeside) operated by Arriva from Grays (GY) Garage for TfL. Now extended to all TfL routes.
You must have a contactless credit/debit card to use the facility and you just touch the Oyster reader. (You can also use it to pay in McDonalds!!)

As long as they don't have the problems that M&S (and others?) seem to be having: [ Click here ]
