If they want it it will come in but what worries me is the statement about the Northern going automatic later this year as far as I know it has been since June.

Ssh Don't tell them. They probably think that trains still have Guards on them as well!
Given that the Northern line has been fully auto for a few months and, as I understand it, the management briefing only came out last week, it does seem very poor that nobody could be bothered to read through a document that was (presumably) prepared several months ago and update it. Worse, if the document was only created recently, it just shows how out of touch the person was who created it. Either way, would you trust anything else that was in it?
The document is probably meaningless anyway as they are talking about several years ahead. Like party mandates, politicians promises and the mayor's utterances, anything that LU say for the future and how changes affect staff should be taken with a pinch of salt.
As regards driverless trains being brought into service, if that's what LU wants and they have the money to do so then, like closing all ticket offices, that is what LU will do regardless of what the unions say. NOPO is a technical advance in the same way that programme machines and centralised signalling control were a technical advance in their time over individually operated signal cabins. Like any company, LU would be stupid if they didn't take advantage of any new technology that could improve the service they provide.

Shame as I've only got another 7 years or so and I could do with a nice severance package. Theres no way I'm working decades longer just to get severance.
