After almost 88 years of signal lever operation, T103 ends conventional signalling operation at Morden. Opened in 1926 when the line was extended to Morden, the signals and points were controlled from the signal cabin at the north end of platform 4/5 (now toilet area). Later, with the arrival of centralised signal operation, programme machinhes controlled the signals and points via the interlocking frame in the newly built adjacent Interlocking Machine Room. Operation was overseen by the Regulator at Leicester Sq who could remotely take over from the programme machines if required tp manually control the signals and points. They could also be controlled locally via the frame in the IMR. In 1968, the Regulators and Controllers moved into the control room at Cobourg St which was shared wiith the Victoria line. Allan Hoare, who worked in the control room most of his working life, had the honour of signalling the last SB train into the platform at Morden and then to depot. Click on the photos to enlarge. Apologies for the quality! T103 approaching South Wimbledon T103 approaching Y2, the last running signal That's it! Very shortly the signal aspects from Stockwell to Morden will no longer be there and the diagram will be coverd up

Yes after Stockwell, we went to the IMR's at Moorgate ( not in use) then to Golders Green and Hampstead. It won't be long before those IMRs and all the others up to Edgware are gone and then Cobourg Street will be no more. I saw on the LT museum friends site that the Morden desk and panels are to be preserved at Acton.

We have now almost completed photographing the IMR's on the Northern Line with only Colindale and Edgware to do and hope to complete them in April before closure.
If anyone out there has any photos of the following signal boxes for the Northern line, Tooting, Clapham, London Bridge, Hampstead, Colindale (on platform and the temporary structure and frame in car park), Woodside Park 2 ground frames and Totteridge 2 ground frames, Mill Hill East North, Middle and South ground frames, Park Junction, Drayton Park and Moorgate Northern and City line. I would be very interested in hearing from you.

I was just thinking and the ground frame at Morden depot has outlasted both the signal box and IMR as well as the Golders Green depot ground frame. I seem to remember that there are some levers from Totteridge there.
Signal box 1926-1962 IMR 1962-2014 Ground frame 1926-?

It would be polite to say who you are instead of 'we' as people tend to respond to the positive if they know who they are dealing with. There are some very knowledgeable members here who I think will be glad to assist, me included. Joining LTF takes just a couple of minutes and is pain free.

I think I know who "Signaller is, but I will keep it under my hat for the time being. I think I also know he was always mentioned about Canal Junction as he worked there a lot.
