Noting the relocation and renewal of 44W and 48W at Acton Town prompts me to wonder if point renewal is ongoing across the combine. It seemed to be very much make do and mend while I was doing signal maintenance.
Obviously the DR has money these days, when the Picc was doing District signal maintenance from Acton Town to Ealing Broadway there was no money for renewal of clapped out 6ft points. Acton had a lot of well worn 6ft sets for which some spare parts were no longer available. When the Picc took over maintenance of Met/Jub from Finchley Road to Preston Road boundary it had been similarly cash starved and the first crossover taken out of service at Finchley Road was to provide pure 6ft unobtanium for somewhere else on the Met.
Surelocks were coming in just as I retired in 2005 for use on the Jub.
The shift to F/B rail from B/H has obviously precipitated replacement of point equipment. I recall rerailing through Ealing Common westbound in F/B rail all except for 11a chairlocks which of course could not be converted. Hundreds of sets of 6ft and chairlock turnouts, wide to gauge, movable angles etc were quickly approaching or had already reached their sell by date back then. I was never keen on Clamplocks, until we became responsible for Neasden I only had four sets to maintain, Hatton Cross 8, Hanger Lane Junction 9, Heathrow T123 10 (pre terminal 5) and Acton Town 75 turnouts. I recall Neasden 25 and 26 being particularly troublesome sets

Yes lots of points have been replaced over the past 5 - 6 years, on the SSL all points will be electric as the air main will not be need as when the new signalling is installed, the train stops will go also.
Trains on the Victoria , Jubilee and Central line do not have trip cocks any more.

Obviously the tripcocks on the Central are long gone and I knew that those on the upgraded lines would go, I presume the Northern will follow suit soon.

Yes the Northern Line is the next in line for trains to have trip cocks removed and train stops removed.
