I have noticed that when London's roads seem to be re-surfaced or tarmac, that when the Bus Stops and Lanes are re-painted on the fresh road surface, they no longer seem to be 'coloured in' with red or green paint as they used to be. Is this to save money on paint? Or make them less obvious to motorists, and make more £££s in fines for driving/stopping in them?

Being cynical, I'd say that it was just a ploy to raise more cash I think the paint may in fact be red tarmac, but I'm not sure. I think that TfL are responsible for the main roads as far as new work, maintenance etc. is concerned, but I don't know if it's the council that collect the fines for those roads. It's a similar situation to cycle lanes. Some are plain, some are green and others are blue. I don't know if there's a reason for the difference or if it's just to confuse pedestrians!
